Performance lab mind nootropic review ebylife

I review Mind by Performance Lab. A modern nootropic that claims to boost brain energy (cognizin), support focus, memory, speed, motivation and helps recover from excessive cognitive exertion. Aka thinking too much!

I think it's safe to say that we’re all suffering from some form of burnout these days. According to one study conducted mid-pandemic, seventy-five percent of the United States population was experiencing job-related burnout with seventy-six percent of those said to be working remotely. If then, like the majority of the US population, you work from home, sleep poorly, fuel your days on mega-dozes of caffeine and work from the dining room table, Performance Lab Mind could be a great solution to help you stay focused, energized, and motivated throughout the day.

Performance Lab’s cognition-boosting Mind supplement claims to enhance performance-driven cognitive functions by using a special blend of natural ingredients. Keep reading to learn about all the ingredients, my experience and whether or not it’s worth your time and money to try it yourself!

Performance Lab Mind Overview

Performance Lab® Mind is one of only a handful of nootropics that claim to enhance cognition and help your brain recover from intense mental exertion. What’s a nootropic you ask? Nootropics are drugs or supplements that may improve cognitive functions like memory, creativity, or motivation. Not only may they help improve your focus, speed, energy, memory, multitasking, and motivation, this one in particular can also help you to overcome the dreaded stress burnout. Your brain, just like your body needs to be nourished with a variety of different ingredients to allow it to function optimally. Go too long without providing it with what it needs and you may experience burnout. Performance Lab Mind works to top you back up with those essential ingredients and get you firing on all cylinders again so you can meet your creative, professional, and even fitness goals.

Ingredients

Mind combines multi-tasking nootropic ingredients for optimal neuro-nutrient delivery. Every ingredient is highly potent yet safe enough to consume daily. It contains NO soy, egg, fish, shellfish, dairy, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, or other allergens. It’s not a stimulant like caffeine that delivers short-term energy. In fact, you won’t find any caffeine or stimulants in this formula. Every powerful ingredient is encapsulated in a 100% plant-based capsule made from pullulan (fermented tapioca). Let’s take a look at the ingredients.

Citicoline (Cognizin®) 250 mg / †

Citicoline is an organic compound produced in all living cells. After taking Cognizin for 6 weeks, it may boost brain cell membrane formation by 26% and brain energy by upwards of 13.6%. It’s a very versatile nootropic for both brain health and cognitive enhancement that is suggested to:

  • Support phospholipids to build brain cells and optimize brain cell functions

  • Raise acetylcholine, supporting learning, attention and memory

  • Optimize the mitochondria that produce energy for all brain cells

  • Support cerebral blood flow to supply oxygen for brain energy metabolism

  • Stabilize brain cell membranes for healthy neural repair, regeneration and function

Soy-Free Phosphatidylserine (Sharp-PS® Green) 100mg / †

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is an eco-friendly phospholipid (healthy fat) present in nearly all cells. PS is most concentrated in the brain, where it helps cognition and long-range health in many ways including brain cell formation, neutral communication, and brain energy.

L-Tyrosine (Ajipure®) 250ml / †

L-Tyrosine is the master precursor that forms key brain chemicals for mental performance. Supplemental L-Tyrosine is suggested to help reverse the negative consequences of stress by:

  • Serving as a raw material for the synthesis of performance-oriented brain chemicals

  • Stimulating the synthesis and release of epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine

Maritime Pine Bark Extract (95% proanthocyanidins) 75mg / †

Performance Lab’s pine bark extract is the most potent nootropic pine bark extract on the market. Maritime Pine Bark Extract supplies a complex of antioxidant proanthocyanidins that help the brain by:

  • Signaling for release of nitric oxide (NO), which supports blood flow to the brain

  • Supplying antioxidants that help neutralize free radicals’ cell-damaging, age-accelerating effects

  • Optimizing brain plasticity and brain cell regeneration for long-range health

Other Ingredients: NutriCaps® Pullulan Capsule, NuFlow® Rice Concentrate

Performance Lab mind prevents burnouts.

The Pros

  • Performance Lab Mind is a relief for the coffee addict! It’s not a stimulant or a crash-inducing energy rush, it is a sustained, reliable, holistic brain boost that can help you to feel sharper and more energized. Preventing burnout is much easier than recovering from it!

  • You only have to take 1-2 pills a day to reap all the benefits. Plus, finding an addiction and stimulant-free energy-boosting supplement can be difficult.

  • It's safe to take daily without the need for cycling.

  • Performance Lab Mind uses natural ingredients to keep the nasty effects of stress at bay while building new connections to help you deal with stress in the future.

  • Free from Racetams. While Racetams are a popular ingredient when it comes to supporting brainpower, due to a lack of research studies, Performance Lab has decided to exclude any in their formula.

  • Bulk discounts are available!

  • You can test Mind for a full 30 days and if you don’t see results, Performance Lab will refund your money. Being critical and observant helps to ward off the placebo effect, especially when you know that you can get a refund if you truly don’t feel the effects!

  • Performance Lab Mind pairs well with other products. Have trouble winding down before bed? Take Mind in the morning and Sleep at night. Want to raise your ketone bodies? Try it with MCT. Need a full-body boost before your workout? Try it with Pre Lab Pro.

  • No fillers or fluff in sight. From the highly concentrated ingredients to the prebiotic-infused capsule they’re contained in, Performance Lab is dedicated to providing 100% effective, useful ingredients and never any unnecessary fillers.

  • Free International shipping on orders above a certain value.

The Cons

  • Beware of the placebo effect. We want our supplements to work and sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s all in your head, so to speak.

  • A 1 month’s supply is $69/€59 which can add up quickly. While bulk discounts are available, it’s hard to commit to the 3-4 month costs upfront.

  • Only available for purchase on the Performance Lab website.

  • Not as potent or effective as other nootropics such as Mind Lab Pro.

How to Take (Dosage)

It’s simple! All you need to do is take one to two capsules in the morning or early afternoon on an empty stomach. For best results, use daily and consistently. It's suitable for use in conjunction with Performance Lab's full range of supplements.

Should You Take a Nootropic?

According to Performance Lab, Mind is an ideal brain supplement for students, professionals, competitive individuals, and anyone seeking to gain a mental edge. Feeling bogged down by stress? Unable to find the energy to get back to your hobbies or workout routine? Then Mind could be worth a shot.

Performance Lab Mind Benefits

My Own Experience: Did I Notice Any difference?

As I sit here writing this review, I am currently “on” Mind. I've been taking it for 2 months, albeit not every day and it's the second nootropic I've experimented with. The first of which was a more potent universal nootropic called Mind Lab Pro by Opti-Nutra, Performance Lab’s parent company. You can read my full review of Mind Lab Pro here.

I would like to point out that I am not an expert when it comes to brain health or nootropics. I am however extremely interested in performance, both physically as a personal trainer and mentally as a coach. Anything that I believe could be beneficial to either, I'm more than willing to try.

I also feel that it is my duty as a personal trainer and sports nutrition specialist to say that I don’t believe that supplements should ever be used as a replacement for or as an excuse to make poor lifestyle choices. Supplements should be complementary and used as a safety net to make sure you're providing your body and mind with everything it needs to run smoothly. With that said, I do love to experiment with high-quality supplements and I'm growing increasingly interested in those that can help improve my mental game.

As someone that's currently trying to build a new business whilst simultaneously running between clients and negotiating a divorce, I was pleasantly surprised by the benefits. Whilst most of which were quite subtle, I felt more focused, less anxious, and touch wood, I'm not burning out. Whether that's just my own resilience or down to taking Mind is impossible to tell.

While I will unlikely continue to take Mind long-term or every day, it is something I might use when I'm going through difficult moments such as the present, whether those be professional, personal or physical.

Mind vs Mind Lab Pro – Which Is better?

As I mentioned in the section above, Mind is the second nootropic I've tried. The first of which was Mind Lab Pro. Which is better? Well… while Mind and Mind Lab Pro have been developed by parent company Opti-Nutra, Mind Lab Pro offers a much more comprehensive nootropic. With 11 ingredients compared to Mind's 4, it's a more potent supplement and I certainly felt greater benefits from Mind Lab Pro than I did from Mind. Also at the same price ($69/€59 for a 1 month's supply), you're getting much better value from Mind Lab Pro.

A Final word on Performance Lab Mind

I feel that we're only really just beginning to understand the power of our brains. Your mental health is the foundation of your well-being and better brain health is fundamental when it comes to achieving your goals, whether it’s getting a promotion, starting up a side business or killing it at the gym. Performance Lab® Mind is a healthy, safe-to-use supplement that can help to improve focus, clarity, multitasking, motivation, and more. Plus, who couldn’t use a little help with stress management these days?

The 4-ingredient-formula is potent and powerful so it works harder for you. Even their capsules have added nutritional benefits. This product is a testament to the quality and results you can expect from the entire Performance Lab line. And as you know if you've read any of my other product reviews, I'm a big fan of their brand.

With that said. If you have the choice between Mind and Mind Lab Pro, I would definitely recommend opting for the latter. With 11 ingredients compared to 4 and at the same price, excuse the pun but it's a no-brainer.

Performance Lab is so confident that it offers a money-back guarantee if you aren’t happy with the product.

My overall score: 7/10
